This book, which materializes the artistic work "La Punta", is born as a new cultural contribution to this unique, historical and constantly transforming place in the city of Valencia, from the contemporary aesthetic aspects that surround art and philosophical reflection.
A plastic and literary piece that, like an emotional script, executes the most outstanding and typical characteristics of La Punta. An openness to inspiration, to that which is truly special, taking ceramic creation as a pure means of expression, from the reflective and careful work that porcelain requires, and reaching the complexity of ideas and thought, to search for its essences, tremors , or at least, a sensitivity in appreciation.
Thus, the photographs that are shown and developed throughout the book are a selection of images that capture the work created in ceramic – porcelain and oxides, fired at 1280 °C –, which has been made for this purpose, which It is made up of 50 small pieces, variable depending on the exhibition composition. A set of ceramics, light and delicate, that could well fit in both open hands, taking that anthropometric – and at the same time anthropocentric – idea of reaching the cosmos in one's hands.
It is a formal and conceptual interpretation with porcelain, which emphasizes its grace, subtlety and strength. Thus, through the action of stretching the material in a plastic state and the gesture of printing textures and inserting sheets with iron, nickel and titanium oxides, formed a type of skins and fragments, reminiscent of the facades of houses, fields and the crops; where life unfolds and folds. A vision, at the same time of interior and exterior realities, where it is black and white and a tendency towards abstraction that ask for a certain serenity and plastic precision, now, when it could seem that we have become more accustomed to ruins and wounds , from a pilgrimage to culture and memory.
A work that above all wants to evoke, since it arises from the emotions and sensations that emanate from feeling its land, the sound of running water through the irrigation ditches, the whispering of birds, the stalking of insects, the dance of shadows and lights. that requires the sun and the moon, the smells that intermingle, the rational conquest of the territory and the vehement unbridled assault of progress. All this and more, which emerges from the clash between two worlds, one that dies and another that is born, from the constant change of our country.
As for the fundamental and exquisite philosophical contribution of Alberto Ferrer, this is a beautiful display of ideas and metaphors that address the essential: the sacredness of life and its own and original task. Such thinking supposes a firm and complex positioning in a constant deepening of the being, in the face of a contemporary society that is uprooted, disoriented with the loss of meaning and in misery due to the lack of values. Reading it represents a continuous discovery of life – and of La Punta – through a humanism with a universal vocation that led us to fully live our existence, to know how to inhabit our home, to poetize.
